We got home really late last night. Puppy seemed to do ok once the up-chucked.
After that he settled down and went to sleep for the rest of the ride.
When we got home he was timid of our other pets but they greeted him happily
and he warmed up to them in just a few minutes. Sarah is a 8 year old
Lhasa Apso and Silver is a big fluffy cat we adopted last fall. He followed me
around - talking constantly - until I went to bed. I had planned on NOT letting
him on my bed ever because Smokey loved it but took up more than his half once
he was all grown up. Well, that lasted about 10 minutes - Pup cuddled at my
feet all night. I hope you don't mind, but we are planning on re-naming him.
We haven't decided on one yet but will let you know when we do.
Thanks again for our new baby.

We decided on Meshach (pronounced Mė-shack from one of our favorite Bible stories)
although my husband kept calling him Henry last night (short for Henry whiner).
He is adjusting well and is showing how smart he is already! I've always trained
all my dogs to ring a bell that is tied to a ribbon that hangs from the door knob
whenever they need to go out. I rang it every time I took him outside. He did it
on his own this morning!!! I couldn't believe he picked it up so fast. I can see
training will be a breeze with his intelligence and in no time he'll have the whole
family trained. He will be meeting Grandma tonight. She is so excited!

Meshach is doing well, his doctor appt is next week so i'll let you know his weight
then. He is adjusting very well and Sarah, our little Lhasa is getting more tolerant
with his mischievous ways. She just had her 9th birthday and does not appreciate
his habit of random tail grabbing and chewing as much as he does. Silver Bells
our kitty that we adopted a while back loves him and rubs up against him all the
time. I was really worried about her because she came to us as an adult with
some psychological issues, but they are doing great together.
Grandma loves him dearly although she gets mixed up on his name and calls him
Shadrach sometimes. All the residents and staff at her assisted living facility treat
him like royalty. He even gets 90 yr-old Myrtle to smile and she hates everyone
and everything!!! He is doing much better with the car rides now too.
We go on a short hike in the woods every evening. He loves to run really fast up
and down a certain hill with Sarah. At first his brakes didn't work too well and he
kissed a few trees, but he is getting better control now. I'm looking for a good
training program we can start in July or August. I would like Meshach to learn
some of the techniques the disabled companion dogs learn to help me with my Mom.

I thought I'd give you a quick update on Meshach. He just had his final puppy shots
and physical. He's healthy, happy and weighs 59 pounds!!! He has grown so much
and nobody believes me when I tell them he is only 4½ months old because he is so
huge for his age. Do I have that right??? pup is learning more and more each day.
He is so intelligent.

Meshach has finally lost all his baby teeth and the last molars are just coming in.
I found 2 on the living room carpet and Travis insisted we keep them.
I have no idea what I'll ever do with them! . No one believes he is only 5
months old because he is so big, not even our vet - do I have his birth date right
- 1/29/03?

We have been really careful not to give him any people food what-so-ever and
the wonderful results have been that he is the first pup we have ever had that
does not beg every time we eat something!!! So it is a win-win situation, he will
be healthier and a very polite little (well, actually big) guy and we get to have
peaceful meal times. I'm not sure if I told you this yet but the concept of fetch
finally hit home this week!
